Comparing Gold to Copper Penny (Zinc)

The weights of a USA penny and a 2.5 grams Pamp Suisse gold bar are identical. However, the Pamp Suisse gold bar is half the thickness of a penny. Their surface areas are similar. Notice the deep red color of the 1 cent in contrast with the rich yellow color of the 99.99% (24K) pure gold. These are unmistakably different in their appearance, density, and values. The tiny gold tab is worth approximately $139.65 at the moment, about 1396543% (1.3 million percent) more than the penny. Given than a newer penny is 97.5% zinc, with a thin copper plating. Thus, we’re actually comparing pure gold to almost pure zinc. Still the value disparity is very significant.
